How do we prepare for different types of weather?

K-PS3-2:Use tools and materials to design and build a structure that will reduce the warming effect of sunlight on an area.

K-PS3-1: Make observations to determine the effect of sunlight on Earth’s surface.

K-ESS3-2:Ask questions to obtain information about the purpose of weather forecasting to prepare for, and respond to severe weather.

What happens when the sun shines on different objects?

How can I protect myself from the sunlight?

What is the weather like today and how is it different from yesterday?

Can I predict tomorrow’s weather?

VIC words:

forecast, meteorologist,

scientist, observe

measurement, structure

Ask your child what the VIC Word is...

This is the word that we use to signal movement around the room and outside...

The children will be asked to give their prediction to the word...then they will be asked to find the true meaning of the signal word and report where they found the meaning... (parent's will need to help!)

Dave Nettell Visits Our Class

Mr. Dave Nettell's: Creating & Nuturing Community

You've probably heard already that we were visited by Mr. Dave Nettell.

We worked on building a "stronger team" in our classroom by doing a number of his challenges.

We, as a school, are working with Dave Nettell to create and nuture classrooms where children and teachers are KIND, SAFE and PRODUCTIVE by building TRUST, HEALTHY RISK-TAKING  and COOPERATION!

Where can we find the true meaning of it?

How does friendship FEEL?

What does it LOOK like?

What does it SOUND like?

What is your own definition of "Friendship"?

(Talk about this as family)

¿Qué es la "Amistad"?
¿Dónde podemos encontrar el verdadero significado?
¿Cómo se siente amistad

¿Qué te parece?
¿Suena como?

¿Cuál es tu propia definición de "Amistad"?
(Hablo de esto como familia)

Come make a splash with me in Kindergarten!
