Principal's Update
Dear Coleman Families,

Wow, what an incredible week of learning and celebration to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month! Last week's events highlighted the three district values of Equity, Community, and Joy. Students learned about the contributions of prominent Latinx leaders, the different Latin American flags, and the significance behind their colors and emblems. Students also engaged in fun games, and a notable highlight was when the San Rafael High School students in the Educator Pathway courses led a read-aloud in classrooms, showcasing strong role models and future leaders for our students. Finally, our diverse community came together on Friday for an evening of connection, delicious food, laughter, and dancing. It was a beautiful evening.

Many people made the week possible, and I'm grateful for the countless hours Ms. Martha and Ms. Kassy dedicated to making it happen. We had a lot of parent leaders who led from behind the scenes. Thank you, Andrea Ramirez, for organizing and coordinating events; this took several weeks of planning. I want to thank Jose Perez, Venanacia Gonzalez, Byron Alvarez, Guanda Lopez, Rosa Paxtor, Patricia Mata, Josselin Meza, and Anthony Byrne for setting up the beautiful decorations on Sunday evening.
I'm grateful to our PTO members and the Dads' Group, who took the time to set up and clean up following the potluck on Friday.

Lastly, we want to extend our gratitude to the talented performers of Danza Azteca Mixcoatl for such a beautiful and powerful performance.

Coleman Student, Family, and Staff Handbook Highlight
Recently, a bike was stolen from the front of the school.  We highly recommend that you lock your student’s bike on the bike rack to avoid bikes being stolen.

Bikes, Scooters, and Things with Wheels
Helmets are required for every bicycle, skateboard, roller blader/skater and scooter rider.  Bike racks are located at the front and rear of the campus. Students who do not wear helmets will lose their privilege to ride to school until they get a helmet. If you need help getting a helmet, please contact the front office. Bikes, scooters, and skateboards may not be ridden on the school grounds between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

When school is out, riders should go directly home.

These rules also apply to roller shoes, rollerblades, skateboards, and scooters (which should be carried while on campus and taken to the racks as soon as possible). Allowing a child to ride a bike or walk to school unaccompanied by an adult is a parental decision.  Only parents can judge if their child is mature enough to handle this responsibility.
