Principal's Update
Dear Coleman Families,

Family Conferences
We are excited to have families on campus for Family Conferences during the week of October 14th. The collaboration between school and home is vital to student success. You’ll have the opportunity to build a rapport with your student’s teacher and discuss many important areas. Teachers will provide you with information about student diagnostic and assessment data, discuss student’s strengths and areas for growth, student attendance, and discuss what to expect in your student’s classroom.

Please note that October 14th is a non-student conference day - students do not have school that day. October 15th-18th are 11:50 am Minimum day releases. Students will have breakfast and an early lunch. Tiger Club is closed on October 14th. On October 15th-18th, Tiger Club dismissal beginning at 4:30 pm.

United Against Hate or Peace Week at Coleman:

Last week, teachers led community circles every day, where they introduced words related to peace. In grades TK-2nd, students discussed what safety, peace, respect, kindness, and Inclusion look and sound like. In grades 3rd-5th, students discussed what equity, inclusion, solidarity, bullying, and empathy look and sound like. Students made a beautiful banner during lunch on Wednesday.

The celebration continues this week. Families, please join us for a Coleman Community United for Peace walk on the blacktop on Wednesday, October 2, from 8:05 to 8:25 a.m.

Goodbye, Mr. Giao
Mr. Giao has been the heart and soul of our campus for the last 27 years! Mr. Giao welcomed everyone to Coleman, always greeting them with a warm smile. Thank you, students, families, and staff, for making Friday a special day for Mr. Giao.

Please welcome Mr. Estuardo Cordon. Mr. Cordon has many years of experience working as the day custodian at Bahia Vista. He prides himself on leading the charge to make Bahia Vista a Zero-Waste School and looks to support us with the charge at Coleman.

SRCS Bond Project
SRCS Bond Project - Coleman Elementary

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The project consists of the construction of a modular TK Classroom Building with 2 classrooms, a restroom and teacher prep area. A modular ELOC building and a covered walkway are also included. The project consists of
construction of a shade canopy, a TK Play Yard and an AC paved area with basketball courts, ball wall and associated striping. Also included are accessibility upgrades and associated path of travel and exterior hardscape and landscaping.

PROJECT UPDATE
The site has been completely graded and is ready for pier drilling and footing layout at the TK and ELCO buildings. Some unforeseen underground utilities have delayed progress as it has been necessary to resolve utility routing that conflicts with building footings and piers. We are working with the City and engineers to resolve these conflicts. The schedule impact is unknown at this time.
