Dear Coleman Families,
Happy, almost, Halloween and Dia De Los Muertos! During the school day on Thursday, students will go through their typical routines until 1:35 p.m. At 1:35 p.m., some classrooms will have Halloween celebrations and Halloween-specific activities. We welcome families to join us for our Halloween parade beginning at 2:10 p.m. If students don’t want to participate in Halloween activities, Ms. Soss will open the library from 1:35 through the end of the school day. Students in the library will engage in fall activities, not Halloween activities.
Please remember No masks, fake blood, face paint, or weapons. Bring comfortable shoes.
Ofrenda for Dia De Los Muertos
Dia de Los Muertos is celebrated on November 1st and 2nd. For many of our families, it is an opportunity to remember friends and family who have passed away. Families will have alters or an ofrenda with items representing those who have passed away. On Wednesday, October 30th in the morning, we will have an ofrenda to remember those nearest and dearest to us; please feel free to leave pictures. food, or items to represent a loved one. This is a great opportunity for you to share memories of your loved ones with your students.

Every Day Counts: Attendance During Cold and Flu Season
|
Please make sure to send your child to school if they are generally healthy and well. However, if you have questions about when to keep your child home if they are not feeling well, the California Department of Public Health has put together a flyer with recommendations. Review the information for a list of symptoms (such as fever, vomiting, sore throat, coughing, etc.) and recommended actions about staying home and returning [English | Spanish]. Be sure to contact a healthcare provider if your child needs medical care. In most situations, a health-care provider’s note is not needed to return.
