Principal's Update

May 18, 2025
Dear Coleman Families,

I hope you enjoyed the beautiful weather this weekend. It certainly feels like summer!

This past Thursday, our students enjoyed a special snack alongside their lunch in celebration of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. They were offered a delicious selection of Samosas, Korean rice balls, and Senorita Buns. We sincerely thank our families who helped prepare and serve the food for our event. Please see the photos below for a snapshot of the celebration.

Family Calendar

Please don't forget to add the family calendar, linked in the Importante Dates and Upcoming Events section of this update. Many exciting events are taking place as we end the school year. On Friday, May 23, our 4th grade students will go on their annual trip to the state capital in Sacramento. This valuable experience serves as a culmination of their social studies and natural history curriculum throughout the 4th grade.

SRCS Parent and Family Feedback Survey

As we wrap-up the school year and plan for the future, we ask our parents and families to please take our 2025 SRCS Parent and Family Feedback Survey! This important survey is confidential and takes approximately 10 minutes to complete.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback related to how your school and our District can best support your child's success in SRCS!

Book Recommendation: Everything Changes and That's Ok by Carol Dodd

A great read to support your students as we wind down the school year and students transition into summer vacation. Author Carol Dodd gently introduces young readers to the concept of impermanence through simple rhyming text and vibrant illustrations. It beautifully demonstrates how change is a natural part of life, using examples from nature and everyday experiences to show that it's okay when things don't stay the same. This reassuring book encourages children to recognize and adapt to the transformations around them, highlighting that change can even be a beautiful thing. It's a wonderful read for helping kids understand and accept the ever-evolving world.
