Dear Coleman Families,
What an incredible first half to the school year! Our students have been working hard to stretch their brains and build new connections.
On Friday, we welcomed our 5th-grade students back from their three-day Outdoor Education adventure at Nature Bridge. They spent the trip learning about local habitats, exploring the outdoors, and building deep bonds with their classmates. We owe a huge thank you to Chandos McEowen, Jenn MacSwain, Alexa Sakellariou, Alice Zell, Roxana Aguilar-Gonzalez, Steve Underwood, and Kevin O'Sullivan for chaperoning and staying in the dorms. Judging by the smiles on our students' faces, they had an absolute blast.
Winter Break Book Bingo
Over the upcoming break students in 1st to 5th Grade are encouraged to participate in the Winter Break Book Bingo being run by Ms Karina in our Library.
The Bingo Card includes a variety of reading and book related tasks to do over the break, you need 5 in a row to get BINGO!
Please help your children complete a line on their bingo card and bring it back to school on the first day back, January 6. Every participant receives an entry into their class raffle for fun prizes!
The class with the highest participation wins a classroom prize!
Routines Over Break:
To ensure a seamless return to the school year, we strongly encourage all families to maintain a consistent routine throughout the holiday. While it may be easier to loosen schedules, a predictable structure is essential for your child's overall well-being, as it provides the security necessary to reduce anxiety, promotes healthy sleep patterns, and ensures a smooth transition back to the classroom. Academically, please prioritize daily reading for 20–45 minutes (as there is never a bad time to sit down with your child and a book!) and dedicate 5–10 minutes to quick counting or math fact practice to preserve valuable fluency gains. Finally, remember that learning extends beyond the classroom; Winter Break is a great opportunity to explore and connect with nature, whether through a hike, or by visiting interactive museums like the Discover Museum and the Exploratorium. Maintaining these simple, consistent habits protects your child's physical, emotional, and cognitive growth, and we thank you for your continued partnership.
Happy Holidays
I'm grateful for the partnership between our school and community. Coleman is a special place because of the students, staff, families, and community. Thank you for making Coleman such a special place.
