The Principal's Post
Families:

With Spring Break (April 6–10) fast approaching, we are thrilled to see our students growing and thriving in the classroom.
As the days get longer and the weather gets warmer, please help your child maintain a consistent bedtime. Aiming for the recommended 9–12 hours of sleep per night ensures they stay focused and healthy. Keeping a steady routine throughout the break will also make their transition back to school much smoother.
If you are looking for ways to stay active over the break, we recommend:
  • Exploring Nature: Take advantage of the Marin Headlands, Muir Woods, China Camp, or Bon Tempe Lake.
  • Reading: Visit the local library to find new books that pique your child's interest.
  • Hands-on Math: Let your child practice "store math" by using physical currency to make a small purchase.

Enjoy the sunshine and the extra time with your explorers! And most importantly have fun!

Book Recommendation: The Mess That We Made by Michelle Lord

The Mess That We Made is an educational children's book that uses rhythmic prose and vibrant digital art to illustrate the devastating impact of plastic pollution and the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.

Through a diverse group of characters, the story follows a "crescendo" of environmental destruction, moving from the harm caused to marine life to the broader consequences for humans. However, the book shifts from a "mess" to a call to action, providing readers with both the inspiration and the factual back matter needed to help save the oceans.

Coleman Handbook Highlight

Bikes, Scooters, and Things with Wheels
Helmets are required for every bicycle, skateboard, roller blader/skater and scooter rider.  Bike racks are located at the front and rear of the campus. Students who do not wear helmets will lose their privilege to ride to school until they get a helmet. If you need help getting a helmet, please contact the front office. Bikes, scooters, and skateboards may not be ridden on the school grounds.

When school is out, riders should go directly home.

These rules also apply to roller shoes, rollerblades, skateboards, and scooters (which should be carried while on campus and taken to the racks as soon as possible). Allowing a child to ride a bike or walk to school unaccompanied by an adult is a parental decision.  Only parents can judge if their child is mature enough to handle this responsibility.
