The Principal's Post
Families:

This past Friday, our students participated in an electrifying virtual assembly hosted by The Lawrence Hall of Science titled "The Shocking Nature of Wildfires." During this interactive 30-minute program, students acted as scientists by making predictions and analyzing live experiments involving fire and high-voltage electricity. This enriching experience was made possible through your generous fundraising contributions and the dedicated support of our PTO. We would like to extend a special thank you to Ranjani Spencer for her incredible hard work in coordinating and scheduling this unique learning opportunity for our students!

Book Recommendation: I Just Don't Like the Sound of NO! by Julia Cook

Mastering the Power of "No"
RJ is a master of the "maybe." He spends his days trying to flip every "no" from his parents and teachers into a "later" or an "I’ll think about it." When his constant arguing hits a wall, his teacher invites him to a unique challenge: the Say YES to NO Club.
By learning to accept "no" and disagree appropriately, RJ discovers he can earn a spot on the club’s Star Board—and realizes that following these skills leads to unexpected praise and rewards.
Why This Book Works:
  • Stops the Tug-of-War: Offers practical strategies to end endless negotiating, wheedling, and pleading.
  • Memorable Lessons: Julia Cook uses catchy rhymes to help K–6 readers internalize social skills.
  • Relatable Humor: Kids laugh along with RJ while learning how to make home and school life run smoother.
As the second installment in the BEST ME I Can Be! series, this story transforms "no" from a battleground into an opportunity for growth.

Classroom Assignments
When assigning classes, we look at a multitude of factors to create the best learning environment for all of our students.  School Board policy 6152, states the following:

When assigning students to specific courses and classes, the principal or designee may consider the following criteria as appropriate for the grade level and course:
1. Staff recommendation, including, but not limited to, the recommendations of teachers and counselors
2. Skills and classroom management style of individual teachers
3. Student skill level as indicated by achievement and testing data
4. Balance of high, medium, and low academic achievers

5. Student interests, readiness, behavior, and motivation

6. Student/teacher ratios and, if relevant, class size reduction considerations
The principal or designee may accept from parents/guardians any information which would be helpful in making placement decisions. However, a  parent/guardian who provides such information shall be informed that a request for a specific teacher shall be one of many factors which may be taken into account when determining his/her child's placement.
