The Principal's Post
Families:

I can’t believe we are already down to the final nine days of the school year! Time has flown by, and I am incredibly proud of everything our students have accomplished this year.
As we wind down, I want to emphasize how important it is that our students continue with a consistent and predictable schedule. Our kiddos truly thrive on routine, structure, connection, and outdoor play. Keeping these consistent over the next two weeks will help them finish the year on a high and positive note.

Summer Planning: Disconnecting to Reconnect

As you begin planning your summer routines, I highly encourage you to read an article published by the American Psychological Association: Screen Time and Emotional Problems in Kids: A Vicious Circle?. The Takeaway: According to this major study, excessive screen time and child behavior issues can create a challenging cycle. More screen time often triggers emotional and behavioral problems, which then leads children to turn to screens even more as a way to cope.
With more and more research coming out, it is becoming clear that our students deeply need the opportunity to disconnect from technology. Replacing screen time with outdoor play and family connection is one of the best gifts we can give them this summer.

Celebrating Our PIQE Graduates!

Finally, I want to extend a massive congratulations to the 74 families who recently graduated from the Parent Institute for Quality Education (PIQE) program!

These dedicated families committed to six sessions this spring, working together to learn about the importance of social-emotional development and discovering new strategies to support their kiddos. We are so proud of your dedication to our community and your children's growth. Congratulations!

Book Recommendation: Everything Changes: And That's Ok by Carol Dodd

Change is all around, but it can be overwhelming! Explore how change exists everywhere in a way that is natural, and even beautiful, in this vibrantly illustrated book with fun rhyming couplets, for children ages 3 to 7. The moon is full, but then it's gone, chased away by the dawn. Stars that shine all through the night disappear in morning's light. Everything changes, night to day. Everything changes, and that's OK. From an apple seed growing into a brilliant tree to a child watching a family member grow old, this book offers a thoughtful look at why change doesn't always have to be negative and can instead be observed with appreciation. It poetically presents a story that prompts kids to recognize and adapt to the change they see in their daily lives. This beautiful exploration of impermanence is accompanied by vibrant illustrations that explore every corner of the world, from rolling fields in Tibet to the cozy, fireplace-lit living room of a family member's home. The illustrations remind children that everything changes no matter where you are, no matter who you are, and that's all right.

Lost and Found
Remind your child to be responsible for collecting their lost clothing! Label all clothing and bags that are sent to school. Lost and found is located near the front office walkway and in the multipurpose room. Unclaimed lost and found will be donated in November, December, February, April and June. The school is not responsible for lost items.

We will begin taking clothes to the Goodwill beginning this week. Please check the front of the school for any lost clothes.
